Retention and Expansion are the #1 priority of the Lufkin Angelina
County Economic Development Team. Knowing that over 70% of new jobs
are created by current companies it’s no wonder why we prioritize
our current industry and focus on creating the type of business
environment that incentivizes companies to reinvest in our
community. Lufkin Angelina County have a long history of taking
companies from infancy and helping them grow to prominent leaders in
their industry being the birthplace of Lufkin Industries, Temple
Inland of Diboll, Brookshire Brothers Grocery and Atkinson Candy to
name just a few. Today, companies that started relatively small in
our area have become the anchors to our economy and are continuing
to grow and prosper.
Lufkin
and Angelina County have a committed team of Leaders, from the
Partnership, to the 4B, Chamber, and all stakeholder groups that all
work together to help our local companies continue to grow their
assets and employ the quality workforce that we proved here in the
Heart of East Texas!
Lufkin / Angelina County also puts our money where our mouths are by
providing an aggressive incentive policy for expansion as well as
new locations. As a matter of fact, the local incentive policy is
even more favorable to current industries looking to expand as we
recognize that current companies are already stable tax payers and
employers of our fine citizens and should be recognized for that.
However, being business friendly isn’t only about financial
incentives. The Economic Development Team also stands ready to
assist companies with retention and expansion needs in the way of
employee training
programs
as provided by Angelina College, employee recruitment programs in
conjunction with Workforce Solutions, acting as liaison with city
and county departments and officials to address issues being faced,
as well as assisting in the recruitment of our companies suppliers
or service providers to our location if that would be of benefit.
The bottom line is that Business Retention and Expansion are our #1
priority and adding new quality employers and community partners to
